Princess announces Australia restart plans – Coral Princess to depart Queensland

The world’s leading premium cruise line, Princess Cruises announced its planned resumption of cruising in Australiawith Coral Princess which will debut in Brisbane to June 16 for its inaugural season Down Under.

In a movement of an estimated value $60 million to the queensland economy, the 2,000-guest ship will be homeported in Brisbane for 11 new departures ranging from 3 to 12 nights between June and August before returning for 10 more cruises this summer from November.

The MedallionClass ship will make 48 calls at ports across the state this year, including its first visits to Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays, Cairns and Port Douglas.

Meanwhile, Coral Princess’s sister ships, Grand Princess and Majestic Princess, will make six more calls at queensland ports as part of their planned Australian season departing from sydney and melbourne.

Princess’s new winter schedule reflects the anticipation that state governments around Australia will soon welcome the return of cruise ships to their shores, working with the cruise industry to establish protocols for resuming cruising.

Unveiling of the program, Princess Cruises Senior Director of Sales, Marketing and Service Nick Ferguson says the new queensland the season would see Princess Cruises inject an estimated amount $71 million into the state’s economy through the expenditure of crews and passengers, ships’ stores and port charges.

Mr Ferguson said the cruise line is focusing on Brisbane reflects the demand for cruise holidays among Queenslanders, as well as growing interest in domestic cruises.

“After two years of rolling breaks, we are delighted to present queensland in an exciting winter program of cruises from Australiademonstrating our commitment to Cruising Down Under and the local travel agent community.’

Mr Ferguson said he expected Coral Princess to be a popular choice among Australian travellers. The 91,627 ton ship offers a mix of premium cabins, including more than 500 staterooms with private balconies and more than 200 suites and mini-suites.

‘Coral Princess is a large mid-sized ship, carrying 2000 guests while offering a wide range of public spaces and amenities normally only found on much larger ships, so it offers a very affordable to see Australia and the world in comfort and style.

Highlights of the new winter program include:

Six short getaway cruises departing from Brisbane and sydney – the perfect vacation for those with busy schedules.

Five 7 days queensland return cruises from Brisbanesailing to Cairns, Port Douglas and Airlie Beach (for the Whitsundays).

A new 7 days New South Wales Coast round trip from Brisbanewith a first call to Eden (sapphire coast), sydneyand Newcastle.

A new period of 12 days queensland and New South Wales trip, round trip sailing from Brisbane.

A new period of 12 days queensland and the Conflict Islands trip, round trip sydney Where Brisbanecrossing the coral sea to visit the beautiful and isolated Conflict Islands in Papua New Guinea.

Mr Ferguson said Coral Princess will reposition itself for sydney and resume it previously announced Australia and New Zealand program for the 2022-23 summer season which currently includes trips to the Pacific, Round Australia, queenslandand New Zealand. As part of the summer fleet, Majestic Princess is set to return to sydney to October 20with trips that currently include New Zealand, queensland, Tasmania and Fijiwhile Grand Princess will debut under sail out of melbourne to November 4 with round trips that currently include New Zealand, queensland and southern australia. Mr Ferguson added that Majestic Princess will also offer a new 11-day program queensland trip, round trip sailing from sydney on Majestic Princess in February 2023.
