On Monday, February 7, near Waycross, Georgia, a CSX freight train with two locomotives and 39 cars struck an abandoned tractor-trailer, derailing a locomotive and intermodal cars.

RT&S contacted CSX for a statement and received the following from CSX Media Relations:

“Just before 1:00 p.m. Monday, a CSX train struck an unoccupied tractor-trailer at the S. McDonald Avenue crossing in Coffee County, Georgia, derailing several intermodal cars and a locomotive. CSX train was transported to a local hospital for treatment. CSX personnel are working on site to restore the area. The train consisted of two locomotives and 39 loaded intermodal cars. The incident is the subject of a investigation.
