Carnival Cruise Line provides update on four ship itinerary changes
Carnival Cruise Line has informed customers of several changes that will affect customers who have booked cruises on four different ships on eleven sailings. The changes come after a series of itinerary changes over the past two months as ships are repositioned in other cruising areas.
The current series of changes have affected cruises for Carnival Splendor in alaska, Carnival Miracle in alaska, Carnival Magic with a port changed on one of her east coast voyages, and Carnival spirit in the Bahamas.
Itinerary Changes for Carnival Cruise Line Ships
Carnival has informed guests and travel advisors that several itineraries for four different ships have changed. The eleven affected itineraries are for cruises between May 2022 and November 2023. Carnival did not provide any specific reason for the changes.
Three ships have minor changes, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Magic, and Carnival spirit. Most of the changes relate to travel aboard the Carnival Miracle, with changes on eight different crossings in Alaska.
Carnival Splendor
May 2, 2022 will be the first cruise to Alaska for Carnival Splendor and the first cruise since the hiatus from global operations. There has been a slight change in the time at the port of Juneau. The ship should stay in juneau until 8 p.m. but will now leave at 5 p.m.
On her first cruise in more than two years, the ship will also sail Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Icy Straight Point, Ketchikan and Victoria, British Columbia.
Carnival Magic
Carnival Magic will sail to Saint John, New Brunswick on July 13, 2023. Instead of sailing to the Bahamas, this cruise will now be a four-night trip to Canada and New England.
Departing from the Manhattan cruise terminal in New York, Carnival Magic will spend a day at sea, a day in Saint John, New Brunswick, and another at sea before returning to New York.
It’s unclear why Carnival decided to sail to Canada instead of Bermuda on this trip. Further Bermuda cruises are still scheduled as scheduled.
Carnival spirit
Leaving Mobile, Alabama on November 11, 2023, The spirit of carnival The 8-day Bahamas cruise has two changes. Instead of visiting Half Moon Cay on November 16, the ship will be here on November 15.

Other ports on the 8-day trip include Bimini and Freeport, while passengers will have the pleasure of spending three full days at sea.
Carnival Miracle
Most of the route changes concern Carnival Miracle. The cruise ship will sail to Alaska from Long Beach and San Francisco, California.
A total of 8 trips have been modified. Departing May 31, 2022 from San Francisco, this trip’s new itinerary includes Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria, BC, in that order.
Cruises departing April 23, 2023 and September 10, 2023 will visit Sitka, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Straight Point, Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Ketchikan, Victoria BC, departing from Long Beach, CA.
Cruises departing May 15, June 12, July 10 and 24, and August 21, 2023 will visit Juneau, Skagway, Icy Straight Point, Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Victoria BC. It is important to know that the Carnival Miracle will sail from Long Beach and San Francisco, depending on the departure date.
A banner year for Alaska?
It’s unclear why Carnival is making so many changes to its itineraries, especially in Alaska. However, Alaska will see a record number of ships visiting the region this summer. Carnival Cruise Line alone will send three ships to the region.

Cruise ship schedules are busy in Alaska this summer; on some days, Ketchikan and Juneau wait for up to seven ships in port at a time.
juneau a 639 cruise calls planned, Ketchikan should see 598 cruise calls and Skagway could see 474 calls. It would make sense if Carnival decided, or was asked, to change itineraries for this reason.
In terms of visitor numbers, if all ships arrive at or near capacity, which is expected this summer, it will be a record year for the state. Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) says ships this summer have an approximate capacity of 1.5 million passengers, surpassing pre-pandemic figures.
