Tallink Grupp today announced on the stock exchange that its subsidiary Tallinn Swedish Line Ltd has reached an agreement for the sale of the company’s Sea Wind freighter. Sea Wind operated on the Muuga-Vuosaari route but will cease operations on the Baltic Sea after the sale. The vessel will be delivered to the new owners today, April 26, 2022 at Paljassaare Port in Tallinn.
Following the sale, Tallink Grupp has reorganized its freight operations on the Muuga-Vuosaari and Paldiski-Kapellskär routes, effective April 19. The company’s Regal Star vessel will now operate on the Muuga-Vuosaari route under Sea Wind’s former normal schedule. The Sailor Company ship will continue to operate on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route with additional departures.

“We are of course sad to see our grandmother Sea Wind, who turns 50 this year, leave our fleet, but we are happy that she has a new life ahead of her and continues to sail other seas with the new owners. I would like to thank the crew for taking such good care of her over these many years, ensuring that she has many more years of sailing ahead of her,” Paavo Nogenesaid the CEO of Tallink Grupp.
“We will now reorganize our cargo operations to ensure that we continue to offer the same level of capacity or as close as possible to the same level of capacity both on the routes between Estonia and Finland, and Estonia and Sweden,” added Nõgene.
The Sea Wind ship was built in 1972 at the Helsingør Skipsværft shipyard in Helsingör, Denmark. The ship operated between Sweden and Finland for a quarter of a century. It started operating under the Estonian flag in 2015 and has been operating on the Tallinn-Vuosaari route first and later on the Muuga-Vuosaari route since then.
The vessel’s last departure on the Muuga-Vuosaari route was on Monday April 18, 2022, after which the vessel moved to Paljassaare Port in Tallinn on Tuesday April 19 to await transfer to new owners.
